Another bit of time under the car…

Last weekend, I was back under the Triumph again – this time, to replace the propshaft with an uprated and more importantly, balanced one from Dave Harvey.

All went together fine – new nuts and bolts supplied and due to weather conditions shortly after, a test drive is still to be completed. There was quite a difference in both weight of the new one and, the size of the joints. Hopefully, that’s that sorted for the life of the car now…! A few squirts of grease to fill the UJs and ready for the road.

During a general under-car checkover, I did find that the inner drive shaft flange nuts were all about a flat loosened off after the trip to the UK – I hoped this problem might have been sorted with the addition of the CV shafts running more smoothly but there we go…

Blue Loctite thread locker has been applied this time so hopefully, that will be that.

I also started to replace the Furflex trim strip around the doors – I found some in a good shade of brown and managed to get the driver’s door access completed, with the aid of some pliers and a rubber mallet…. The door seems to close more firmly now and hopefully, the front passenger door will seal up more following the work as it’s pretty noisy at the moment when on the motorway with air passing through.

If there’s not much improvement, the next step will me rubber seals I suppose – that needs a bit of investigation as it seems there are a few problems fitting these…!

Onward and upward. Go the bills….!
